gatheredHisName

It is our desire to help everyone make a vital connection with Jesus and with the community of Jesus followers, and experience the incredible life change that is only possible through Him!

If you have questions, or even doubts, you are still welcome among us. We will love you and treat you like family, even before you are ready to believe like we do. In a sense, you can belong before you believe. But if you spend time with us and take part in the life of ReCreate Church, we believe you will begin to see that all of this is real and true! It is our prayer that you will embrace new life in Jesus!

We are not affiliated with any denomination. We rely on the Bible to guide our beliefs, and the Law of Love to guide our application of those beliefs in practice. Below is a brief outline of some of our core beliefs, written in everyday language. For a more technical explanation, or questions about specific doctrines or positions, please contact our Pastor.

We believe the Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to humanity.  God is the ultimate Author of the Bible, inspiring men to record these words. No other book or document is in the same category. The Bible is fully trustworthy, and the standard by which all our life and belief should be considered. The Bible reveals the Nature and Character of God, His principles, and His purpose and expectations for us. Jesus is the ultimate focus and revelation of the whole Bible.

We believe in God.  There is only One living and True God. He Is One God Who has revealed Himself in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three form an undivided Trinity.

We believe in God the Father. God the Father reigns supreme over all Creation and history, ultimately directing all things according to the purposes of His Grace. God is a true and loving Father to all those who become His children through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe in God the Son. Jesus is the Son of God. He existed with God from eternity, but took on human form. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin named Mary. He lived a life of perfect obedience to God. He gave His Life on the Cross as a substitution for us, making a way for human beings to be redeemed from sin.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is an equal part of the Trinity with the Father and Son. He convicts people of sin and points them to their need of Jesus Christ. He empowers believers to know God, understand the Scriptures, worship God, pursue holiness, and make a difference in the world.

We believe that God created humans in His Image, but humanity is fallen and in need of redemption. Human beings were God’s final and ultimate creation. He gave humans a capacity for some of His own qualities. Human beings have a potential to love, create, and dream beyond anything given to animals or even angels. God gave humans the ability to choose, but humanity chose to sin. Because of sin, the relationship between God and humanity is fundamentally broken. But the relationship can be restored by the work of Jesus Christ. Because humans are created in God’s Image, each person possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and love, regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, or any other consideration.

We believe that Salvation comes by God’s Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is offered freely to all people, and is received by faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Redemption comes only by the Blood of Jesus. There is no other way to get to God. By grace, through faith, we are saved, and not by any good deeds on our part. Jesus keeps us saved by His power, and we can never be taken out of His Hand.

We believe that a New Testament Church is a local body of believers carrying out the work of Jesus on earth. At any given time, a local congregation will be made up of the truly redeemed, those who are seeking, and those who have not yet realized their need. Only the redeemed can properly be a part of the Church, but those who have not made that step of faith are welcome among us.

A local Church carries out the work of Jesus in taking the Gospel to the community and the world, urging people to trust in Jesus and be saved. A local Church teaches the Bible and lives it out, discipling and building up believers.

A local Church is led by Elders. The terms Elder, Bishop, and Pastor may be used interchangeably, depending on the context. The New Testament pattern is a plurality of Elders, with one serving as a leader among them, usually referred to today as “The Pastor.” The Pastor and Elders have the responsibility to seek the Lord and set the vision for the Church, and edify and equip the believers for ministry.

We believe Baptism is an act of obedience, symbolizing the believer’s faith in Jesus. Water baptism is a symbolic recreation of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which occurs when a person places their faith in Jesus. We teach baptism by immersion as a believer’s public identification with the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus. In baptism, a believer professes death to sin, the burial of the old life, and resurrection to a new life lived for Jesus.

We believe The Lord’s Supper is an act of obedience, memorializing the Sacrifice of Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic recreation of the Broken Body and Shed Blood of Jesus. We do this as a way to keep His Sacrifice on the Cross fresh in our hearts and minds. Along with Baptism, it is one of the two traditions for a local Church specifically instituted by Jesus.

We believe that every follower of Jesus is responsible for sharing their faith. We each have a personal calling to share the Good News of Jesus, encouraging people to trust in Him. We have a responsibility to live out the teaching of Jesus in such a way that is a witness to the message. We carry out this calling in our local community in our everyday lives, sharing Jesus with family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. We also have a call to engage in shared mission work on a larger scale.

We believe that each believer should be a disciple who makes disciples. We constantly seek spiritual growth and greater obedience to God, and encourage others to do so. Each believer should seek to learn from those who are more experienced, and pass on what we have learned to those who are less experienced.

We believe every believer has a call to serve. It’s not just leaders, or those with “official” titles or roles who do ministry. Every believer should use his or her time, talents, and resources for the service of Jesus. The Holy Spirit has gifted every believer to take part in ministry on a local level. We need every person to make their special contribution in order to reach our full potential.

We believe that human beings are eternal, and will spend eternity in one of two places. God has prepared Heaven for those who will trust in Christ, and the Lake of Fire for those who reject His offer of redemption. The Bible teaches that God does not want anyone to be lost, but offers mercy through Jesus. Whoever believes in Jesus Christ shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life.

We believe that Jesus will someday return. At His Return, the dead in Christ shall rise, the living believers will be called up to meet Him in the air. In the fullness of time, the judgments of both the righteous and unrighteous will take place, and all people shall be consigned to their eternal place.

We believe followers of Jesus are called to seek and obey the Will of God above all else. We must follow the teaching and example of Jesus in everything that we do. This includes loving our enemies and showing kindness to those who seek to harm us. In the Spirit of Love, we must work to protect the vulnerable in our society, and seek to defend and promote the sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death. We will lovingly seek an end to all cruelty, racism, and every form of greed, selfishness, and sin.

We believe that Church and state should be separate. We remember that the first believers faced violent persecution from the state. And we also remember that in periods when Church has dominated state, it has lead to serious corruption and abuses. We believe the best arrangement is a free Church in a free state, where there is protection for the Church to pursue its ends. But regardless of the political climate, we will pursue the life Jesus Christ has called us to live.

We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational building block of human society. A family is composed of persons related to each other by blood, marriage, or adoption. God created marriage as the union of one man and one woman in a covenant commitment for a lifetime. Husbands and wives are to relate to each other in the sacrificial love modeled by Christ and described in the Scriptures. Children are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to raise their children according to the love of God and the truth of the Scripture.

We believe a local Church has a call to engage with the culture around it. While there will be elements of the culture around us that we cannot embrace or condone, we cannot ignore the culture or abandon it. In order to reach people in the culture, we must engage with the culture. We use the culture to create points of connection, and also a contrast with God’s Truth. We must remain separate from the sin in the culture around us, but reach out to people in the culture.
